Welcome to March's edition of In Touch with up-to-date information on events at the Club during our Centenary season.
Dear Member
As we approach the end of our Centenary Season, I have decided to dedicate this month’s newsletter to two Centenary projects that mean a lot to me personally.
1. Centenary Wall
Firstly, the Centenary Wall. It is a little disappointing that the ‘wall’ is only a third full – it would be great to have it completed by the end of the season. If you have not yet ‘cemented’ your affiliation with our great Club long into the future, please give serious consideration to securing a place on the Wall. Plaques cost £125 each and can be ordered by completing the attached form and returning it to me. Many people have said that they don’t know what to put on their plaques. If this is the case, you could simply record the name of a business, family or individual and then update it later when inspiration strikes. The production of a plaque costs £25, so that is all it would cost to amend and replace, should you wish to consider this option. If we are successful in completing this initiative, it will go a long way towards securing the necessary funds to purchase the last remaining ‘parcel’ of land from CDC.
2. Centenary Ball
Secondly, the Centenary Ball. The blue riband event of our Centenary Season is fast approaching and promises to be a very special celebration indeed. The Ball will take place on Saturday 14th June and tickets are £100 each. It will be a 1920s themed evening and a black-tie event with revelers invited to dress in 1920s style, although this is not mandatory. Planning is well underway; marquees have been secured, catering has been arranged, the band is booked… We are currently putting the finishing touches to our plans to ensure we all have a very special evening worthy of our 100-year history. There is an absolute limit of 500 tickets available, of which 420 have already been secured. If you wish to be part of this wonderful evening, please contact Trudy Boyle or Monty very soon to ensure you are not disappointed. For those who have already booked, please keep an eye out for an email with further details about the event which will be sent out in the next couple of weeks.
