Warwick School Fixture – Friday 24th March 2017
Joff Tibbetts are very own Banbury club sponsor organized a fixture against Warwick School with only one team playing the coaches had a difficult selection from our multi talented full squad with some players unable to attend due to the logistics of a Friday afternoon.
The sun was shining and the boys from all the four teams were raring to go. Coach Ben appeared to be masquerading as a talent scout with his smart suit and long coat.
Banbury first match was against Old Leamingtonians a good loop by our centers’ as one of the first moves showed the hard drilled training of our coaches was paying off. The team continued playing outstandingly as a squad and finished the match 5/ 1 with trys from ( Bailey 3, Mathews 1, Rhys 1).
The second match was against Warwick who showed well drilled routines of passing the ball down the line however again the banbury boys were victorious finishing the match 5/2 with trys from( Bailey 4, Leo 1). We had two injuries in this match a stud to the knee for Euan but he was back playing again by the last match and a hurt hand for Mathew. Banbury parents were still struggling with full comprehension of the offside rule following a ruck believing offside only related to football. Whilst the Warwick parents were overhead asking what the banbury boys are being feed on.
The final match was against Towcester with the rucking, mauling and general tackling of the squad outstanding and victory was again achieved with the final score of 6/1 with trys from (Bailey 1, Leo 1, Jack 1, Ollie 2, Rhys 1). A fare play award may also have been available as two banbury players swapped to the Towcester team for the second half so the game could complete due to team injuries, however a coach team tip to the departing players was pass the ball forward. Ed came our bloodied from the last ruck the red nose finished the day on a high note as it was RED NOSE DAY.
