The Banbury U9s Festival was a great success not only did it finish on time, there was some great rugby on show!
Banbury Boasted 4 teams and all were as strong as each other. Buffalos, Bison’s, Buzzards and Buccaneers
In the wet there still some great rugby played. When Richie Mack found a space he was like lightning and William Rogers took some stopping when he was going at full pace.
Focusing on 2 passes William Baines and Patrick Craig moved the ball well with Layton Locke and others receiving and benefiting with try’s. Ellis Holdsworth showed his talking ability with Sami putting in some huge tackles. Mentions go to Noah Pickering, Seb Johnson and Henry James for their great attitude and work rate.
Within the Buccanneers a particular highlight was Oscar Dunipace who showed not only some fantastic running with the ball but time and time again some textbook and very determined tackles, achieving a 7 tackle turnover pretty much single handedly in the last match against ON's. Furthermore, when we had the stronger players off the pitch, even putting out a weaker side in some matches proved no issue as each player stepped up and played fantastically.
Even though we did not keep score it was evident that the Banbury teams were doing very well.
As you’ve heard from these reports already this season - the team is going from strength to strength and we are very excited to seeing what the future holds for this age group.
