Sunday saw another great turnout for the Banbury Under 9's, enabling us to field 5 teams against Chipping Norton's 3.
A promising bright start to the weather on leaving Banbury soon turned into a chilly and overcast morning, so keeping the players moving and warmed up was an important concern for the coaches. After a hesitant first half, lead coach Matt encouraged all Banbury sides to focus on applying pressure by coming onto the ball at pace following the tackle; which proved successful with teams gaining momentum and leading to an overall dominant performance.
As ever we came away happy that once again the U9's represented themselves extremely well; providing Chippy a very energetic, powerful and magnanimous opponent. In the last round of matches Banbury Greens played Banbury Blues and proved a particular highlight with both sides giving a very spirited performance against one another. A special mention to Zach Rimmer who after a few lacklustre tackles, picked himself up and not only provided some great running with the ball but also put in a number of hard, try saving tackles close to the try line. Also to Tommy McArdle and Henry James who were both great with ball in hand and Leyton Locke who made some impressive tackles.
