What a soggy cold day to be playing rugby away at Oxford rfc. The morning started off dry but cold. We attempted to try and warm the Banbury players up, but the winter sleet started to set in early on making it very hard conditions. Understandably some of the players started to lose interest; Wet cold hands, legs and boots to blame.
Once we had sorted the players into 3 teams the games could begin. Banbury were up to their usual tempo straight away, with good runs from all. Kieran smith scored some excellent tries. Big well done to Joe Barnard ,Zach Rimmer and Oscar who all put in some monster tackles, saving Banbury on the field from tries. After an upset start, William Baines showed that he was not going to give up despite the weather. A player that stood out for me was Daniel Elliott, showing all round ability with excellent tackling, good passing and commitment to the game.
Due to the freezing weather, most only played one game each. Thanks to all for making the journey.
