John ‘JB' Baker - Injury Update

John ‘JB' Baker - Injury Update

Banbury RUFC Communications27 Nov - 10:00

Wednesday 27th November 2024

Dear Members,

It is with great sadness we are writing to let you know that Banbury RUFC legend John Baker, has sustained a serious injury playing the game he loves. The unfortunate accident has led to John having two major operations. He remains in critical care and, while he is stable, he will need to stay in hospital for some considerable time.

As you may know, John is a stalwart at the Club being a former captain of our first XV, Head Coach of the second team, and having spent four seasons as Head Coach of the Colts, as well as being a player for the Vets (‘Old Nicks’).

Everyone at the Club, and from the wider rugby community, sends their thoughts and best wishes to John, his wife Tina, Sean, Georgie & family. Understandably, they haven’t been able to respond to all the good wishes they have received however, they would like you to know they are grateful for all the messages of support.

So many of us want to find ways to support John and there have been a great number of ideas on initiatives we can undertake. We are therefore setting up a committee to ensure we plan out how we can best harness the clear support we all want to show John and his family. We will update on these plans in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if you have thoughts or want to offer your support,
please contact matt.goode@banburyrufc.co.uk.

I’m sure you will join me and the wider rugby community in sending our thoughts and prayers to John, Tina, Sean, and Georgie.

Best wishes,

Matt Goode
BRUFC Director of Rugby Activities
