On Sunday 28th July, the day after his 71st birthday, club member Alan Wolstencroft, is
undertaking a 15-mile walk, to raise funds to build a fourth classroom at a small
secondary school he established last year in Sierra Leone because at that time children had to walk up to 5 miles each way to attend lessons.
He has funded the building and equipping of 3 classrooms, an office, staffroom and store, and a toilet block (all opened in September 2023 for the start of the new academic year). He has also refurbished an abandoned water well at the school, benefiting 300 community members.
The total cost of classroom 4 is £5,200 and Alan has already generated £2,700 for the project.
